Taikan-ten Bonsai exhibition, Kyoto

The Taikan-ten is one of Japan's leading Bonsai exhibitions, with an incredibly high level of Bonsai trees on display. This year was the 39th edition. The show takes place each year in November, in Kyoto. The Taikan-ten is one of the few traditional shows that features Bonsai in displays, with scrolls and suiseki. But several contemporary displays can be found as well. The sales area is worth a visit too. The best of show is awarded the Prime Minister Award.
