Large anti-submarine ship Severomorsk trains to locate submarines in Arctic Ocean The large anti-submarine ship Severomorsk crew operates during the Arctic voyage. The crew drilled to search submarines employing an onboard sonar as well as a ship-based Ka-27 anti-submarine helicopter. At the first stage of the exercise, the crew of the sonar group employed the Polinom hull-mounted all-around and target designation sonar to detect the underwater target of the mock enemy and determine its bearing and distance. The anti-submarine helicopter during the second stage of the exercise carried out search operations using a towed array sonar and transmitted target data to the ship. The ship’s crews simulated fire of anti-submarine missile system. All the tasks of the drill were completed, the personnel demonstrated cohesion and high professionalism.
