May 11, 2023. Samuel Fernández (1963, Santiago of Chile) is a professor from the Faculty of Theology of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. Ordained priest in 1992, received his Doctorate in Theology and Patristic Sciences at the Augustinian Patristic Institute in Rome, 1997. He is currently a tenured lecturer from the Faculty of Theology of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, of which he was Dean between 2004 and 2009. His research areas are Origen of Alexandria, the history of the patristic exegesis, the Arian crisis in the 4th century, and the development of Trinitarian Theology and the patristic Christology. He dedicates a part of his research to proofreading and translating patristic texts, such as On the First Principles by Origen (2015), Treatise de Synodis by Hilary of Poitiers (2019), De Synodis by Athanasius (2019), and the theological work of Marcelo of Ancira (2022).
