Senator Bernie Moreno, the Republican from Ohio, led a moment of silence for assassinated political commentator Charlie Kirk. This happened on the floor of the Senate less than a week after Kirk was shot and killed during a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University. Moreno posted on social media that, “I was blessed to have known Charlie and I am praying for Erika and his two children. Charlie, you have left a generation of young Americans forever inspired. May you rest in eternal peace.” The Senator’s statement continued, “We cannot allow this to become a country where political violence is normalized, assassins are lionized, and brave men like Charlie are shot dead for daring to speak out.
