At the 2024 Beijing Auto Show, Xiaomi's CEO Lei Jun embarked on a tour visiting the booths of leading electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers such as Nio, Xpeng and Li Auto. Xiaomi, a newcomer in the EV market and a Chinese consumer electronics giant, showcased its first EV, the SU7, last month. Foreign automakers from Japan and Germany were also present, striving to catch up with surging Chinese EV makers who are dominating the world’s largest auto market. The Porsche Macan EV, the latest electric model from the renowned automaker, is equipped with a 100kWh battery pack supplied by CATL, a leading battery manufacturer based in Ningde, China. Makoto Uchida, President and CEO of Nissan Motor, highlighted their strategic focus, “And now we want to make our strategy even stronger in China, how we can make sure to deliver the car which meets the customer needs and meets the speed.
