In this Al Mayadeen discussion, Dr Marcus Papadopoulos opined that only the Americans and the Israelis will decide if there is to be a ceasefire in Gaza, and should that day arise, it will be because Tel Aviv and Washington consider it to be in the interests of the Israeli state. Dr Marcus said that a weakened Israel means a weakened America in the Middle East, and vice versa a weakened America means a weakened Israel. In addition to that, Dr Marcus commented that the war in Gaza could end in a similar way to how the war in Lebanon, in 2006, ended; if the Israeli high command conclude that Hamas cannot be defeated, then Israeli forces could be withdrawn from Gaza.
