Donald Tusk, the new Polish Prime Minister, is persecuting state media employees deemed to be loyal to the previous government. The entire management of TVP, Polish state radio and the Polish state news agency were fired, to the point the news channels are broadcasting movies instead as there is no one to produce content. Employees summarily sacked are trying to break into their places of work and protest. The Chairman of the National Council for Television and Radio Broadcasting called the actions of the new authorities “an act of lawlessness”, which “reminds us of the worst times of martial law” (meaning the introduction of martial law in Poland by the communist regime of Marshal Jaruzelski in the 80s against the backdrop of Solidarity protests) .
