With a history going back to the Phoenician and Roman times, Los Boliches has for many years been a fishing village and still holds strongly with its traditions. Strolling through the streets we can see how tourist exploitation has influenced: large buildings that surround the most traditional places. We can walk through streets that take us to Los Boliches, an old district already integrated into the urban nucleus; or to Santa Fe de los Boliches, whose name refers to the fishing gear that was used on these beaches, where the bolicheros boats captured the anchovies. The neighborhood of Los Boliches has also witnessed the urban explosion but without forgetting its seafaring traditions, such as the devotion to the Virgen del Carmen, who, in the middle of July, arrives in a maritime procession on the shoulders of the sailors who have picked her up from the boat to bring her closer to the sand.
