Duchess Cecilie Auguste Marie von Mecklenburg-Schwerin was born in 1886 to Grand Duke Friedrich Franz III of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. In 1905 in Berlin she married the Prussian and Imperial German Crown Prince Wilhelm III. The couple eventually had six children; four sons and two daughters. The Cecilienhof Palace in Potsdam and the luxury liner Kronprinzessin Cecilie were named in her honor. She died in Bad Kissingen in 1954 at the age of 67.
