Fighting Jack Dempsey Problems? Fix Aggression. I always tell people to buy these black pipes as caves for fighting jack Dempsey’s and other cichlids. They work great and the fish love them. They need more hiding spots or else adding other fish might solve it. You could also try adding a Wavemaker to add some current. More topics: What would you do? My sister in law has one of these in each of her kids rooms with 3 bettas in each one. Before she even set them up she was showing me them and I told her what bettas really needed, even offered to help her find good prices, give her coupons, etc. She didn't listen. She's the type of person who always has to one up you. So because my 2 older kids each have a betta hers each have 3. Dumb logic I know. My kids each have a 5.5 gallon for theirs with sponge filters, heaters, and a snail. I feel so bad for her fish, her community tank as well. She keeps 1 female guppy with a ton of fry and a ton of males in a 20 gallon tank. Like 3 small fake plants. I just feel horrible for all the fish in her house period. Idk what to do to try to help them. If anything at all. Yes of course... I'm saying there isn't many options for Betta stuck in a tiny containers when the owner knows better and continues to do it. That's their version of being in a hot car but we can't steal them or do anything to save them until their owner either gets a real tank or gives it away or the it live like that til it dies. So unfair. There should be enforced rules for fish. Fish are looked at as disposable and more like decoration to most people, sadly. She's also got 2 young boxers who, even though they have a fenced in yard, spend 75% of their lives in their crates. All around their house makes me sick with their pets. Honestly just leave it. Even though it’s not best for the fish, she will do what she wants. Unless you want to buy three decent tank setups. Maybe for the next couple bdays you give them a tank? My suggestion would be to start searching craigslist for cheap tanks you can set up, buy a cheap lowlight plant and split it up so you get more value out of it by growing more, even if all you can find is a large tank you can make cheap plastic dividers with most plastics or acrylic and a hotknife, good diy and teaches the kids responsibility. buy each of the kids a bigger tank and dividers for their birthday gifts? maybe another family member will go in on it with you to split the costs. I could go buy a 10 with the $ per gallon sale and then give them the 10 I just emptied when I got my 20 gallon. I could pick up more craft mesh and silicone and put dividers in. I'm pretty sure I have 2 50 w heaters as well. Probably filters too lol. I could probably set the fish up for less than $20. your trying to be will they take care of a bigger tank?if she won't buy them herself!?also you'll probably just offend her if she's trying to compete and you are correcting her when she thinks she know it may not be worth the hassle or money, some ppl don't care as much as they should!! It’s bad for the fish. Ask her how she’s going to feel when they get sick and die because she didn’t take care of them and then she has to explain that to her kids. Hopefully that gets through to her. I came here to say something like this. Maybe tell her stories of other peoples experiences. When i first started i didnt do enough research and had a 3 divider tank. The fish would jump into each others unit and beat each other up so badly while i wasnt home. Who would want to worry about their fish killing each other while they are grocery shopping!? Honestly, u cant do anything... u have offered to help etc Sadly not everyone will take other ppl’s advice And i dnt think that you buying the stuff for the fish is fair on you, we all know it’s expensive. N were not talking about one fish here.... Jack Dempsey fighting aggression. I like this. If she’s a one upper, another thing you could do is get an Instagram for your fish, or start daily posting your fish to Facebook in this group. Show her all the likes and comments you get. Then see what happens to her when she does the same thing with this set up. Let the internet set her straight. Yes ! Tell her how a heater makes them more active so they are more fun to watch, how clear the water is with a filter and how it makes things easier not having to do water changes as often! They've seen our set ups numerous times. When we got our first community tank she went and got one. Then I got the kids each tanks, now she did. She doesn't seem to care about the well being of any animal. They hae 2 young boxers, male and female less than 2 years old. They have a fenced in yard but the dogs spend 75% of their lives in their 3x3 crates.
