1️⃣2️⃣3️⃣4️⃣ He left his job and went to work under fire. In 2014, Aleksey Smirnov, a producer and director, interrupted shooting on a nearly completed film and dedicated himself to volunteering. He founded the humanitarian organization ’Angels’, which assists civilians in Donbass. For the past 10 years, Aleksey and other volunteers have been traveling to some of the most dangerous areas to bring food, water, and aid to those in need. They also help evacuate people from bombed-out areas. Everywhere they go, they are greeted by tears and words of gratitude from those they assist. As Aleksey explains, he has always had a desire to help others. He dreamed of doing so even when he was growing up in a boarding school.
