A severe storm cell hit Queensland on Monday, causing major damage in Gympie and the Sunshine Coast. The storm cell dropped hailstones as large as 10 to 12 cm. Large hailstorms were also reported in the Fraser Coast region, including Maryborough and Tinana, and surrounding areas. A very severe storm cell that passed through Gympie and Maryborough, has moved offshore in Hervey Bay. Meanwhile, the weather service issued warnings for dangerous winds and large hail storms, for a separate storm cell west of Gladstone heading northeast towards Bajool. 3,500 were without power on the Fraser Coast as the storm hit the region. 800 without power in the Gin Gin area, and 500 in the North Burnett area.
