s/v Cloudy Bay (Hallberg-Rassy 54) sails 75 miles from Rodney Bay, to Roseau, Dominica with a night stop on the way in Anse Mitan, Martinique. The easterly winds are constantly changing in the lee of the three island’s volcanic peaks; accelerating at their north and south extremities and constant 20kts beam reach in between, leading to a lot of sails adjustments. As we head north to the start of the leeward islands, we are finally off the wind and going like a train! This is how sailing should be while island hopping in the Caribbean.
