NJPW New Year Golden Series Update and Review In a return to tradition for the 50th anniversary of New Japan Pro-Wrestling, the promotion has brought back the New Year Golden Series tour that will wrap up over the next week in Japan. Featured over the last week were some hotly contested matches, including a lumberjack match between EVIL and Tomohiro Ishii for the NEVER Openweight Championship (which we finally got to see an EVIL match with limited nonsense), Master Wato getting his first major main event spot as he attempts to take the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship from El Desperado, and the junior tag division heat up with some unexpected new challengers.
