Due to the ongoing conflict, 200,000 people have been displaced in October alone, bringing the total number of people displaced to around 6.9 million. More than 120 armed groups operate primarily in the country’s eastern region, including M23, of which Uganda and Rwanda are accused of backing. The country’s immense wealth has been the source of many of its problems, dating back to the brutal colonial days when Belgium’s king Leopold ruled the Congo as his personal property to successive administrations and western interests that colluded to sabotage the African country’s push for independence. #DRC #Rwanda #Belgium #M23 #fyp
