Takashi Yoshimatsu's 'And Birds are Still...' is a great example of beautiful contemporary orchestration, and truly moving string writing. This brief analysis shows some of the parts at play in constructing a soundscape as evocative as this is. Describing “And Birds Are Still…,” the composer wrote, “it is a simple piece in the form of a short, piecemeal song that becomes a faint melody which then develops into a melancholic recollection of a memory of long ago, before blending back into its original piecemeal form, and finally fading away. This recording was conducted by Sachio Fujioka and was performed by the Manchester Camerata. Please check out the full performance: #20thcenturymusic #jazzharmony #takashiyoshimatsu
