In tango, becoming a musical dancer can be a challenging and long journey. But if you love tango dancing, it is absolutely necessary. Indeed, as dancers, the music is what we express! And, this is even more important in tango where all movements are improvised, and the music is the only ‘tangible’ element both partners have to play with. But we can’t know all the tango songs by heart, can we? That’s why we, at Tango Space, love teaching our students about the 3 styles of tango music: Guardia Vieja, Tango Salon, and Tango Milonguero. This is one of the best way to make tango musicality simple, while looking into a lot more than just “counting the beat”.
