Pour yourself a caipirinha and grab your thumb picks because the awesome César Garabini is taking us on a trip to Rio for an introduction to the beautiful and grooving sounds of Choro guitar. Choro is a uniquely Brazilian form of jazz which developed over the same time period as Ragtime and Dixieland in the States. Its driving force is the seven-string nylon guitar, whose expanded range makes possible an almost pianistic playing style incorporating bass, harmony, and lead voices in a single performance. For complete transcriptions of everything César plays including the awesome duet with Olli Soikkeli, check out the full interview at Cracking the Code: Topics: 0:00 Song: “Um A Zero“ by Pixinguinha, feat.
