Brazil is a federal republic, and its territory is organized into 26 states and one federal district: Brazilia. Throughout the video I go through each of these states: Acre, Alagoas, Amazonas, Amapá, Bahia, Ceará, Distrito Federal, Espírito Santo, Goiás, Maranhão, Minas Gerais ,Mato Grosso do Sul, Mato Grosso, Pará, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Piauí, Paraná, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Norte, Rondônia, Roraima, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Sergipe, São Paulo, and Tocantins. Learning how most of the states (16 out of the 26) are named after a river or large body of water; usually coming from a term of the native Tupi Language, although other native idioms are also sometimes at the origin. Some are interpretations and translations/adaptations of these terms
