Barrow Gurney on the Bristol Road is the site of a blacksmith shop run by two women. “No spreading chestnut tree adorns this smithy, nor even a mighty blacksmith.“ M/S of two women working at a furnace. A red hot horseshoe is removed from the flames. “Eve's arms are not brawny, but they hit just as true.“ M/S of woman hammering the horseshoe on an anvil, horsie stands outside waiting to be shod. M/S of the girls, one holding the horseshoe on the anvil, the other beating it with a large hammer. M/S of the horse being shod. His hoof is filed, woman smiles at the camera. “Everything comes in a day's work to these modern feminine blacksmiths.“ M/S of woman turning handle on a drill. M/S of the other woman filing a piece of metal. M/S of the two women standing and smiling at the camera. Was an item in Eve's Film Review issue number 509. Note: excellent film of women at work. Safety print exists. Probably to be found on &q
