Aussie FM Penny Wong announces new aid package to Ukraine as cost-of-living crisis bites Down Under After concerted pleas from Kiev for energy assistance, the Malaysian-born minister pledged a 31 million AUD ($ million) package for Ukraine’s power and humanitarian needs. Ukraine had originally requested coal from Australia, which Wong said Canberra would not supply, vying to put cash in a fund that Kiev could spend as it saw fit. “The advice to me is that support for the energy fund is a more efficient and effective way of providing assistance to Ukraine,” she told reporters in Adelaide on Friday.
