Statues In Motion, were formed in the summer of 1981, by Vassilis Paleokostas and George Dalabiras. They wrote their own songs in collaboration with their close friend Ilias Mitsakis, who wrote excellent lyrics in English. Both Paleokostas and Dalabiras come from previous bands. Dalabiras, was the singer and guitarist of Homicide, formed by Pothoulakis in May 1980, when he was ousted from Parthenogenesis. Homicide, disbanded in February 1981, “with the great earthquake of Athens“ as Pothoulakis wrote in a note. Vassilis Paleokostas was also in Parthenogenesis, having previously been in Trash, probably the first New Wave group formed in Greece, by Yannis Beltekas (1978). Trash, disbanded quickly, because Beltekas was put in jail for possession and use of the well-known brown sugar. In January 1981, however, the leading core of Parthenogenesis, namely Makridis and Polychronopoulos, decided to dissolve the band and create a new one (FMQ). In this new project they did not include Paleokostas, who remains “unattached“ and feels betrayed. Paleokostas then, with Mitsakis and Dalabiras, isolated themselves in Mitsakis' house and organized a new band called Statues In Motion. They write the songs for the album and appear under pseudonyms: Dalambiras, under the pseudonym Alvin Dean (from the names of two people he admires, Alvin Lee and James Dean) . Paleokostas, under the pseudonym Billy Knight (after he rejects Lod) and Elias Mitsakis under the pseudonym Elli Kane (Elli meaning Elias and Kane, declaring his admiration for Citizen Kane). The album was paid for by Paleokostas' father, i.e. the recording costs. which was six hundred thousand drachmas. Although Minos gets the material ready, for eight months, they do not proceed with the release of the album. Then Paleokostas, desperate, threatens Vassos Tsimidopoulos that the deal they made is voidable, while at the same time planning to leave for England. Statues In Motion appeared once and only once, on June 12, 1983, at the “Greek Rock Night“ at the Lycabettus Theatre. Immediately after this concert and before the album was released, Paleokostas left for England, where he returned after fifteen years. The album was finally released in December 1983, after the band had disbanded. The reviews that are written speak of a ghost band, since almost nobody at the time understood who the creators of the album were. In a review published in the magazine MUSIKI (Jan 1984) and signed by N.K., it is written: “I don't know if they are Greeks or foreigners...“ and that in any case “the lyrics are by a girl from Elli Kane“. To this day, the real history of this band is not known.
