The story of the McLaren W1 might be headlined by its outrageous numbers, but it’s dominated by aerodynamics – a platform McLaren reckons is its most advanced ever. There are a pair of main modes – Road and Race – and engaging the latter drops the car by 37mm up front and 17mm at the back. It also extends the active rear wing by up to 300mm – beyond the edge of the W1’s body – for max downforce and full ground effect.
