'L.A. Takedown' was a made for television movie, written and directed by Michael Mann, which he eventually remade into the feature film, 'Heat“, released six years later, in 1995. The movie features a number of actors that were utilized in various episodes of 'Miami Vice', including Scott Plank (“Red Tape“), Ely Pouget (“Junk Love“), Richard Chaves (“Theresa“), Peter Dobson (“The Lost Madonna“), Xander Berkeley (“Like a Hurricane“ and “Victims of Circumstance“), Juan Fernandez (“Borrasca“), Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa (“The Rising Sun of Death“ and “Asian Cut“) and Daniel Villarreal (“Miami Squeeze“). 'L.A. Takedown' was made for and originally aired on NBC on Sunday, August 27, 1989. The movie was rumored to be a pilot for a new television series, but it never materialized.
