Merge in to Oblivion is the second full length album from Californian one-man band, Devouring Famine. His debut album, Haunting Echoes, released on 1st January was a fully realised version of the eerie malevolence his demos and eps had been brewing, and this second album expands and warps those ideas into a darker, doomier primordial atmosphere that retains the grim and trancey hypnotics of the third wave. Over nine demos, eps and albums, Devouring Famine shows admirable dedication to experimenting down each of the musical avenues and influences he incorporates into each album, with no two releases retracing the same steps, his discography makes for an intriguing and fully rewarding narrative and sense of exploration through many strains of black metal.
