After departing the London R&B scene, William “Boz“ Scaggs joined his headlining schoolfriend in the Steve Miller Band in 1967. Two albums later, he left to go solo, but couldn't achieve solo success until his seventh album breakthrough. Despite good reviews, early solo efforts like Bos Scaggs (1969), which featured Duane Allman, and Slow Dancer (1974) couldn't achieve commercial success. Suddenly Scagg's fortunes changed and he had a huge hit when Silk Degrees (1976) reached No.2 on the Billboard 200, and performed similarly well in Europe. Lead single “Lowdown“ was a No.3 hit on the Hot 100 and won a Grammy for Best R&B Song, while Scaggs lost out on four other Grammy nominations. Scaggs seemingly became a superstar overnight, though really he had been toiling for years, but he took the opportunity to tour the world. Although Down Two Then Left (1977) wasn't so popular, Middle Man (1980) peaked at No.8 and contained two hit singles. Scaggs then took a long break from recording. He returned in 1988 with Other Roads, and took a further six years before Some Change arrived. I do not own the copyright to this recording so if it needs to be removed, I will remove it.
