This is the story of how the Doom 3 mod “Classic Doom 3” was made. Thank you to Ry Feiner for helping edit and narrate the video. Thank you to the guys on the team for agreeing to be interviewed and helping me out in so many other ways. This documentary took a year and a half to create from conception to finish. My script went through many iterations, and in the end, I hope I’ve done a proper job telling our story. I tried tracking down every member of the team, but some of the screen names used back then were so obscure, and maybe they’ve moved on from using those names now and I just couldn’t find everyone. I found ShyRobbie over a year after this project started, and he had an 18 year old backup of the Cdoom developer forum on an old hard drive! He was able to restore it for me so I could verify parts of the story. Just incredible that he had that. I will be releasing the full interviews with each member in the near future. It was pure chance that Gazz and I were able to meet while I was working on this documentary. We have family in England who live near where he lives. We had a trip planned for well over a year and the stars aligned just right for us to finally meet. It was such an incredible experience.
