with relevant clips from the American soap opera, “Ryan’s Hope“ that featured Jillian, played by the late Nancy Addison, and Dr. Seneca Beaulac, played by John Gabriel, at the doctor arguing with each other stating that they’re not in love that matches the words 10cc member Eric Stewart sang. The opening organ chords remind me a bit of the intro to Hall & Oatess classic, Shes Gone. Shes Gone was released in 74, and Im Not In Love, from the British foursome 10cc, came out a year later. While H&O and Dennis Englewood were imitating Philly soul, 10ccs hit is an example of the laconic art rock that fellow Brit bands like ELO would perfect throughout the 70s. (See ELOs Strange Magic in Anglo For Your Ear.) In 1977, 10cc members Kevin Godley and Lol Creme left the band and later became musicians and music video directors under the name Godley & Creme. (They were early innovators of morphing, used to startling effect in the video for their 1985 song, Cry.)
