Hi from Miss Diorama. In this video I show you how I make the snow effect on my winter Dioramas. Below is the list of materials I use to create snow for my dioramas and models; 1. Plasterer’s Joint Compound (don’t use Plaster of Paris because it will set too quickly) 2. Coarse Texture Gel – you could add fine sand to acrylic gel medium if you can’t find this product 3. White Acrylic Paint – any brand will do 4. Gloss Gel or Acrylic Gel Medium 5. Modelling paste – Note - you can mix acrylic paint into other acrylic mediums 6. Toilet Paper – must be white 7. White glue or PVA Glue 8. Plastic Jug 9. Stick blender or food processor 10. Water (at least 500mL) 11. Sieve or Strainer 12. White Glitter 13. Various tools such as a Paintbrush, Spatula, Spoon, Palette Knife etc.. for applying Snow 14. Tacky craft glue (you could use your white glue or PVA glue instead of Tacky Glue – this is just a personal choice of mine) 15. A bowl, container or your sink to catch the water when straining the pulp The batch I make in this video yielded approximately 2 x metric cups of snow material. Note that when the mix dries out, it will reduce in volume. For a thicker or thinner mix, adjust the amount of water, glue, toilet paper and joint compound – less moisture = thicker mix.
