Six books by American children's author Dr Seuss have been pulled from the shelves. The bestsellers have been under scrutiny for their portrayal of race. Among the books being pulled are “McElligot's Pool,“ “And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street,“ and “If I Ran the Zoo“. The books, originally published between 1937 and 1976, contain numerous caricatures of Asian and Black people that incorporate stereotypes that have been criticised as racist. But, to some, the decision fed into frustration with what they see as “cancel culture“.
