Video by Peggy Anke: Lee Peng, also known as the Loy Krathong Lantern Festival, is a traditional Thai festival celebrated annually on the full moon of the twelfth month in the Thai lunar calendar. During the festival, people release beautifully decorated krathongs (small, floating banana-leaf boats) into rivers and waterways as a way of paying respect to the goddess of water, Mae Khongkha. Additionally, the festival features the launching of intricately designed lanterns into the night sky, creating a stunning display of lights. Lee Peng is a time of reflection, gratitude, and the letting go of negative energy, making it a significant and enchanting cultural event in Thailand.
