Shared by How I Center. Whenever l teach people how to center I always use the clock analogy (hence the numbers you see in a circle). Your right hand naturally sits at 5 o’clock and will push the clay towards 11 o’clock using your palm and your thumb. Your other fingers will support and help keep your right arm stable. You can add your left hand to help add pressure and support towards 11 o’clock, which will help as you increase the amoun of clay that you’re centering! Remember to let go of the clay slowly after you’ve centered it so it can settle towards the center The hardest part is keeping your arms and hands steady as your centering the clay (if you see your hands or elbows wiggling as your centering, the clay won’t be centered). #ceramics #clay #potter #potterywheel #pottery #potters #stoneware #stonewarepottery #stonewareclay #stonewareceramics #wheelthrowing #wheelthrown #wheelthrownpottery #instapottery #ceramica #ceramicart #contemporaryceramics #tutorial
