Khufu, known by the Greeks as Cheops, was the second pharaoh of the Fourth Dynasty of ancient Egypt: around 2589 to 2566 B.C. The son of King Sneferu and Queen Hetepheres, Khufu is most famously known to be the mastermind behind the building of the Great Pyramid at Giza, as well as for the building of other small pyramids, ostensibly for members of his family. Only one likeness of Khufu has so far been confirmed to have survived to the present day: the figurine being restored above was found, not at Giza
