Henri Bertini (Oct. 28, 1798 - Sep. 30, 1876) was a French composer and pianist. He was a child prodigy who toured Europe during his younger years. As an adult, he was admired as a soloist and chamber musician. He spent the last 20 years of his life away from the music scene. Bertini transcribed Beethoven's 7th Symphony for piano 8 hands. He played it in concert with Franz Liszt, Sowinsky, and Schunke. Bertini's legacy in the modern day comes largely from his studies like this one. Bertini is said to have played with Clementi's evenness. This study more than anything felt like an exercise of evenness, it's deceptively difficult in certain passages to do so.
