Quincy Jones put forth a concerted effort to showcase the new grown up Michael by having him sing in a lower register that contrasted sharply with the high notes he was capable of exhorting. The first single, “Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough“ was an across the board smash and “Rock With You“ cemented his reputation. The title track was issued as a single and peaked at #10 on the pop charts in early 1980, as did “She’s Out Of My Life“. His first solo single on Epic was “You Can’t Win“ from “The Wiz“ and did not do well on any chart.
