She must be nearly ninety. (get on for) She must be getting on for ninety. 2. His strange clothes made him very noticeable. (stand out) His strange clothes made him stand out. 3. Why is the boss always criticizing me? (pick on) Why is the boss always picking on me? 4. She decided to confront her boss. (stand up to) She decided to stand up to her boss. 5. He tried to make the party more exciting and lively. (liven up) He tried to liven up the party. 6. She's always trying to impress people. (show off) She's always showing off. 7. He's always talking about his life in the army. (go on about) He's always going on about his life in the army. 8. He’s started coming home late at night. (take to) He’s taken to coming home late at night. 9. She withdrew from the course. (drop out) She dropped out of the course.
