Beginning a series of John Waters' appearances on Late Night. Here's Part 1, from 1982: 1. March 18: Glenn Milstead, better known on stage and screen as Divine, performs “Born to Be Cheap.“ John Waters then joins him in the next two segments, introducing his book _Shock Value_ and discussing his films, which includes a clip from “Polyester.“ 2. August 24: John again plugs _Shock Value_ and then plays clips from “Female Trouble,“ “Multiple Maniacs,“ “Pink Flamingos,“ and Desperate Living.“ In the last segment, John happy describes a letter he received from a “15-year-old kid“ who turns out to have been Fred Armisen.
