Bolivia: New vision for future with mega gas field and opportunities for Russia In July 2024, Bolivian authorities announced the discovery of a major natural gas field with reserves exceeding 48 billion cubic meters. This discovery could significantly alter the country’s gas industry, where production has been steadily declining since 2015. Now, new horizons are opening up for Bolivia, including opportunities for cooperation with Russia. At SPIEF 2024, Bolivian President Luis Arce declared his country’s readiness to collaborate with Russia in a multipolar world, emphasizing the importance of attracting direct foreign investment. He also noted that the Bolivian government should hold at least a 50% stake in projects related to mineral extraction.
