Music by Ennio Morricone Arranged by Piano Palt Lolita (1997) was directed by Adrian Lyne, the second screen adaptation of the famous novel by Vladimir Nabokov. In 1947, Humbert Humbert (Jeremy Irons), a middle-aged European professor of English literature, travels to the United States to take a teaching position in New Hampshire. He rents a room in the home of widow Charlotte Haze (Melanie Griffith), largely because he is romantically attracted to her 14-year-old daughter Dolores (Dominique Swain). Obsessed from boyhood with girls of approximately her age (whom he calls “nymphets“), Humbert is immediately smitten with Lo and marries Charlotte only to be near her daughter. This may not the most famous of Morricone's scores, but I think it's one of his very best. It's the kind of music that floats quietly by, and you may not even notice it while watching the film.
