A captured Georgian mercenary sniper told RIA Novosti that Ukrainian special services are recruiting foreigners who are in pre-trial detention centers into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He himself had already been convicted, and in 2022 he allegedly got into a fight on the territory of Ukraine and was arrested. There he was faced with a choice: either a contract with the international legion, or deportation to Georgia, where a criminal case was opened against him for attempting to storm parliament.
