29 years ago today Megadeth kicked off the first, of two legs of their American tour with support from Pantera, Suicidal Tendencies and White Zombie as the opening acts in support of the fifth Megadeth studio album “Countdown To Extinction“ released on July 14, 1992, through Capitol Records. The album entered the Billboard 200 at number two and had already been certified platinum upon it's release and was headed towards double platinum as the band was headlining a full blown arena tour. To date, it's their most successful work. Megadeth became one of the most important bands in the metal scene.
