Pioneering voice box transplant lets patient speak again

A Massachusetts man has regained his ability to speak after suffering larynx cancer, thanks to a pioneering voice box transplant. 59-year-old Marty Kedian is only the third person in the US to undergo a total larynx transplant, due to concerns over the unnecessary immunosuppression needed to transplant what is not officially thought of as a ‘vital’ organ.
