In this tutorial I will demonstrate a simple, easy fast and mostly very cheap way to create plastic rivets for pop-ups and movables. All it takes is cotton swaps (q-tips) and an iron. You can take about four or five rivets out of one cotton swap. I'm using cotton swaps from 0,59 cents box that contains 300 swaps. SO for less than a dollar, you can make about 1200 plastic rivets. - Cotton swaps need to have a plastic stick/core - Be careful using a hot iron. - Make sure your iron has a coating that prevents melted plastic from sticking to it. Step 1: Cut off about 15 mm of stick. Step 2: Gently push one end to the hot iron and create a flat top Step 3: Place the rivet and trough the paper pieces Step 4: seal off the other end of the rivet with the iron and push it gently flat to the paper. Don't wait too long and don't use too much pressure. The weight of the iron is almost enough to slowly melt the plastic. Paper Engineer Tor Lokvig, known for hi
