The Celtic Session No. 15 - Intro to the Middle Finger Thwack - Steve Baughman

The middle finger thwack is something I learned from the English guitarist, Martin Simpson. I have embedded it in a Carter Family style brush/strum technique that I learned from Joe Lubus, the man who inspired me to take up the guitar when I was ten. The combo is a lovely technique that provides melodic clarity and groove to fast fiddle tunes. In The Celtic Session I used this MFT/Strum combo in La Grande Chaine, Hanter Dro, and in La-Bas dans la Prairie, and it is sprinkled into a few other tunes as well.
