Hilary Hahn released her first album with pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach, when she was 17 to great critical and popular success. In her career she always came back to the works of that great composer. The London Times wrote: “Nothing the American violinist does is for show. Technique, feelings, heart and mind are intuitively fused, as Bach always demands”. Hahn played this encore after a stunning performance of Shostakovichs’ Violin Concerto with the Berliner Philharmoniker, under the direction of Maris Jansons in Suntory Hall, Tokyo.
