The band was formed in 1968 by Ozzy Osbourne (vocals), Tony Iommi (lead guitar), Terence “Geezer“ Butler (bass guitar), and Bill Ward (drums). In this line up they recorded in 1970 the album ’Paranoid’ with the single of the same name. This album reached #1 in the album charts in the UK and the Netherlands and #2 in Germany and Denmark. The single reached #4 in the UK, #3 in Austria, #1 in Germany and #2 in Switzerland. In the Netherlands it reached #2 in the Top 40 on 24 October 1970.
