Israeli UN ambassador 'proud' to represent 'most moral country in the world'

Gilad Erdan, Israel's ambassador to the UN, said he was “immensely proud” to represent “the most moral country in the world” during a Security Council meeting to discuss the ongoing hostilities in Gaza and the Israeli strikes on a school sheltering displaced people on 10 August. Erdan defended Israel’s recent military actions, and accused Riyad Mansour, the Palestinian ambassador to the UN, of representing a “terrorist organisation”. In his closing remarks, Erdan added that Israel “should be praised” as “the vanguard of civilisation”.
