Herbert von Karajan and the Wiener Philharmoniker perform Mozart’s Coronation Mass KV 317 as part of a mass celebrated by St. Jean Paul II Pope at the St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome. Karajan, wanted a complete rehearsal of lights and cameras and sound in the previous days and, to do that, asked for an Orchestra in Rome to make a real rehearsal. It was asked to the Students’ Orchestra of the Conservatorio “Santa Cecilia” in Rome. The boys and girls of the Orchestra were amazed and honored to play in front of the Maestro Karajan. Figure out how happy they all were when (at minute 9:22 of this video) Karajan asked to their young conductor if he could conduct those Young musicians for a while. There was a young conductor who took care of those boys and girls. Cesare Croci. My father.
