You've all been asking us to support another controller, so we decided to extend the controller support further--we have added the ability to play with one never before supported by a New Super Mario Bros. videogame or modification. Here is a showcase of this new feature that we have been hard at work on. It is the reason the modification has taken as long as it has. We have spent years on research and implementation. So we are very proud to show you the feature working in action. ... At launch, Newer Super Mario Bros. Wii Plus will natively support all official Red Octane Guitar Hero Controllers for the Nintendo Wii, including the Guitar Hero III Les Paul controller and Guitar Hero World Tour, Guitar Hero 5, and Band Hero Stratocasters! Rock Band support is planned (this includes guitars, basses, drums, and microphones).
