8000 years ago Europe was Black. The examination of skin pigmentation evolution in Eurasia, particularly in Europe, has garnered significant interest, particularly due to advancements in genomics, and the genomic analysis of skin pigmentation genes in ancient Eurasian populations. They were known as the Yamnaya, a tribe from the Central Eurasian steppe that brutally pillaged their way across Europe on horseback; the fact that they contributed mostly Y-chromosomes to the gene pool of Europe suggests that their invasion was overwhelmingly male-dominated. Five thousand years ago in Europe, two distinct groups encountered each other when the Central Eurasian horsemen met the European hunter-gatherers, and this encounter would likely have been a profoundly shocking experience for both groups.
